OPP officer killed in line of duty

An Ontario Provincial Police officer has died “in the line of duty” in the northern community of Hearst, the force’s commissioner has confirmed.
OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique said Const. Tarun Bali was killed Tuesday afternoon.

Tributes and condolences
The commissioner described Bali as a hero and highlighted the officer’s dedication to public service.
“His courage and commitment to serving others will never be forgotten,” Carrique said in social media post shortly before 4 p.m.
“As we grieve this immeasurable loss, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, colleagues and the policing community.”
