New York Bars Can Serve Alcohol Until 4 a.m. During World Cup

New York City restaurants and bars are already able to serve alcohol until 4 a.m. But now the rest of the state will be able to party like the city during the World Cup, thanks to a new temporary bill passed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul today, Tuesday, June 9.

Currently, various New York State counties are only allowed to sell alcohol until 1 a.m. (Ontario), 2 a.m. (Niagara), or 3 a.m. (Warren, the county where Lake George is) under the State Liquor Authority. This temporary bill lets restaurants and bars in those counties serve until 4 a.m. from Thursday, June 11, through the early morning of Monday, June 20 (it expires on Tuesday, July 21).

“Bars and restaurants across our state can stay open throughout the tournament, bringing New Yorkers together to cheer on every goal and supporting small businesses across the state,” Hochul said in the press release.

New York State Senator James Skoufis and Assemblymember Al Stirpe co-sponsored the legislation.
