Blue Jays reinstate RHP Dylan Cease, will start Tuesday vs. Phillies

As announced by the Blue Jays ahead of the game, the right-hander was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and will get the start in Game 2 of the Jays’ interleague series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

In a corresponding move, Canadian left-hander Adam Macko was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

Cease, 30, suffered a hamstring injury in a start on May 24. He pitched one rehab outing with Buffalo last week, and struggled, allowing five runs — including two home runs — in four innings.

In 11 starts for the Blue Jays, Cease has a 3-3 record with a 3.05 ERA and 92 strikeouts.

Macko, meanwhile, earned his first call-up to the Jays in mid-May amidst the team’s struggles with injuries to pitchers.

The 25-year-old excelled during his cup of coffee in the majors, pitching to a 1.50 ERA in 12 games, including one start.

Toronto takes on the Phillies Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT on Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet+.
