Unresponsive student at High Meadow during 8th grade field trip

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) – A student from another school district became unresponsive at High Meadow on Wednesday during a field trip attended by Wethersfield 8th graders.

High Meadow staff and emergency responders acted quickly, and the Wethersfield students were immediately escorted away from the area by staff.

School officials, writing to 8th grade families, said the school understands that witnessing emergency personnel respond to a situation can be unsettling for students. They said students remained safe and under staff supervision throughout the incident.

The school was unable to arrange an earlier departure, and transportation proceeded according to scheduled plans. School staff will check in with students when they return to school and provide support as needed.

The school encouraged families to connect with their child and reach out if there are any concerns. Staff will be available for students who need additional support.

Springfield Public Schools confirmed that a student was taken away in an ambulance. They did not confirm the school or condition of student.
