How far will Wrexham travel for away games in 2026-27 Championship?

Phil Parkinson led the Reds to a record-breaking three successive promotions, climbing from the National League to the second tier at a rapid rate.
Wrexham challenged for a play-off spot in 2025-26 but will once again line-up at the same level having finished in a highly respectable seventh position after the play-off push went down to the very last fixture.
With 24 clubs lining up in the Championship, 17 of those competed against Wrexham last term when fans trekked a total of 6,656 miles following their side.
Next term, the Reds and White army will tally 6,422 miles following their side.
Supporters once again travelled in big numbers as they made their way to some new stadiums and now that all the promotion and relegation issues have been resolved, the following six teams – Wolves, Burnley, West Ham, Lincoln City, Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers – are new to the division next season.
It’s been an amazing journey since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed their takeover at The Racecourse with packed away ends following Wrexham the length and breadth of the country over the last four seasons.
There’s been no shortage of success and when Wrexham were crowned National League champions following a record-breaking 2022-23 campaign, supporters notched up a whopping 7,794 miles.
The Red and White army only travelled 5,870 miles in the 2023-24 campaign when they saw their side finish runners-up in League Two, and fans clocked up 6,006 miles in the 23 away games in League One during 2024-25 as Wrexham once again took second spot to go straight up to the Championship.
Stoke City, who play at the bet365 Stadium, is a mere 43 miles from The Racecourse and just an 86-mile round trip, making it the closest away game in 2026-27.
That is one of 10 matches under 100 miles away as Wrexham will also come up against Bolton (63), Wolves (65), Preston North End (70), Blackburn Rovers (73), West Bromwich Albion (75), Burnley (80), Birmingham City (81), Derby County (82) and Sheffield United (89).
Trips to Swansea City (134), Cardiff City (141), Lincoln City (161), Bristol City (166), Middlesbrough (166), Watford (177) and Queens Park Rangers (199) will be bearable when the Reds will aim to build on a superb first season back in the second tier.
At the other end of the scale, six fixtures are over 200 miles away.
The furthest journey is to Portsmouth when supporters will travel 239 miles to see Josh Windass and his team-mates in action at Fratton Park.
That is closely followed by the 236 mile journey across country for the fixture at Norwich City, while West Ham United (209), Millwall (211), Southampton (221) and Charlton Athletic (230) are the other long treks.
Supporters haven’t got long to wait until they can start making travel arrangements, overnight stays or even plans for home games.
The EFL has announced that next season’s fixtures will be released on Thursday June 25 at 12pm.
Round One of the League Cup will kick off the brand new season on August 7–9, before the Championship campaign kicks-off over the weekend of August 14-16.
The League Cup draw is set to take place on fixture release day, with full details to be confirmed.
