Almost 4 years and over $50k later, woman arrested, accused of welfare fraud

Montgomery County, NY (WRGB) — A Maine woman was arrested following a joint investigation into welfare fraud.
Tiffany Butler, 31, was arrested June 11, accused of receiving over $50,000 in SNAP benefits, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office
The Sprakers woman is charged with eight counts of offering a false instrument for filing and one count of welfare fraud, all felonies.

Investigators are accusing Butler of failing to report all members living in her home, as well as all employment and earned income.

Investigators say that by not reporting her employment and earned income, Butler received a total of $50,525 in SNAP benefits between August 2022 and June 2026.
