Tornado watch issued for several West Michigan counties

UPDATE (8:52 p.m.) – A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Van Buren County.

UPDATE (8:43 p.m.) – A tornado warning has been issued for Ottawa County.

___________________________________________________________________________________

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for several West Michigan counties Thursday evening.

The watch is in effect until 2:05 a.m. for the following counties:

  • Kalamazoo
  • Branch
  • Barry
  • Calhoun
  • St. Joseph
  • Allegan
  • Cass
  • Van Buren
  • Muskegon
  • Ottawa
  • Kent
  • Mecosta
  • Ionia
  • Eaton
  • Newaygo
  • Berrien
  • Montcalm

Additionally, the NWS said Allegan, Muskegon, and Ottawa counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 9:45 p.m.
