Relegated to a much less prominent role this season, Lee could find more playing time at another club in Europe, as several clubs already have him in their sights.

For some years, Atletico Madrid has wanted to sign the South Korean; in fact, its interest dates back to 2023, when Lee was still with his former Spanish club, RCD Mallorca.

Although they tried to sign him in the winter of that year, nothing materialized because the Colchoneros had other priorities, so Lee signed with PSG later.

Lee had a very good participation in the 2024/2025 season, being accepted by the fans very easily, but his moment to shine has been fading little by little, and now he has stopped appearing in the starting lineup; in fact, he did not even have playing minutes in this year’s Champions League final.

Despite this inconvenience, Lee won two Champions League titles with PSG, and rumors say the 25-year-old now wants a change of scenery.

According to information from Mundo Deportivo, the CEO of Atletico Madrid, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, and the professional soccer director want to have Lee on the Spanish team, a desire that remains valid now that things look different in Paris for the South Korean.

Kang-In Lee, in the 2025/2026 season, played 43 matches, contributing five goals and four assists, lower statistics than last season.

But the young player is known not only for moving well through the center of the field but also for having a large fan base in his home country.

Since Lee joined PSG, the Parisian club’s jersey and merchandise sales have skyrocketed compared to before, so by having the central midfielder on its team, Atletico Madrid will also gain support from South Korean fans.

Having already been at a Spanish club, things are easier for him because Lee speaks almost perfect Spanish, and he also already knows that Atletico is after him, and he has admitted that it is a team he really likes.
