President Trump’s turning 80. He’s ‘not happy’ about it

President Trump says he’s ‘not happy’ about turning 80

President Trump, who turns 80 on June 14th, said he is “not happy about that birthday that I’m having” in a video with Dr. Mehmet Oz.

It’s his birthday and he’ll ignore it if he wants to.

President Donald Trump is not happy he’s turning the big 8-0.

Just three days before he starts his ninth decade on June 14, the president confessed something:

“You don’t have to wish me happy birthday because I’m not happy about that birthday that I’m having,” Trump said. “That’s a number that I never thought really too much about. It’s not a number I like, but I’m here, nevertheless.”

He was talking to Dr. Mehemet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, in the Oval Office on June 11, which happened to be Oz’s 66th birthday.

In a video shared by Oz, he points to the giant Octagon setup on the South Lawn for the Ultimate Fighting Championship cage match on June 14, and feigning ignorance, asks the president what’s going on behind them.

The UFC 250, which is part of the celebrations around the 250th anniversary of the United States, also coincides with both Flag Day and Trump’s 80th birthday.

“So we’re going to have a fight and it’s going to be on June 14th and you are invited. And I want to wish you a happy birthday. You’re a young man. You have many, many years to go. You’re doing a fantastic job,” says Trump. “And you don’t have to wish me a happy birthday.”

Trump might be touchy about becoming an octogenarian, but he has sought to draw a clear distinction between his own abilities and that of former President Joe Biden’s, whose cognitive abilities he has incessantly mocked. During the 2024 election, Trump mocked Biden, then 81, for his alleged lack of vigor.

As for himself, he said, “I feel the same way I did 50 years ago,” during an Oval Office event on maternal health last month.

“I don’t know why,” said Trump. “It’s not because I eat the best foods.”

Trump is known for his penchant for burgers and sodas.

He then went on to try and solve the mystery of his good health himself.

“Maybe junk food is good and the other food is no good,” he said, adding that he knew many people who’d go to restaurants and eat celery while he feasts on steaks. “I know many, many people that all they do is watch their weight and they kick the bucket.”

His latest medical report, issued after a physical on May 26 by White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella, proclaimed that the president was in “excellent health.”

In fact, the memo said his cardiovascular health is comparable to someone 14 years younger.  That verdict was attributed to an AI -assisted electrocardiogram analysis.

Immediately after the exam, Trump, the oldest person to be inaugurated as U.S. president, gave himself a clean bill of health, declaring that “everything had checked out PERFECTLY” in a post on Truth Social.

The physical exam, the fourth one of his second term came amid public scrutiny around visible bruises, skin discoloration and swollen ankles.

Questions about Trump’s health have swirled since last summer after he appeared with swelling around his ankles and bruising on the back of his right hand. Then, earlier this year, photographs taken during a Medal of Honor ceremony in March showed discolored skin behind his right ear.

The White House said swelling around the ankles was due to chronic venous insufficiency or CVI, which occurs when leg veins fail to send blood back to the heart properly, and the bruising on the back of his hand was caused by frequent handshaking and aspirin. Trump later had bruising on his left hand, which he blamed on hitting a table.

The discoloration behind his right ear was due to a cream, the White House said, without elaborating on what it was for.

The White House hasn’t shared any birthday-specific details. No word yet on whether there will be a cake with 80 candles.
