Spencer Pratt Says He Has Audio That Will Make Bass, Raman Resign: ‘It’s War’

Spencer Pratt says he has audio recordings that could force either Mayor Karen Bass or City Councilmember Nithya Raman to resign, escalating his feud with Los Angeles political leaders following his defeat in the city’s mayoral primary.
In a video posted to social media on Friday, the former reality television star said he was no longer constrained by campaign rules and promised to release a recording of either Bass or Raman “doing and saying something that would make her resign in shame.”
“I was saving it for the general election. Go ahead and pick your demon, certify your choice, and then you get to see it,” he added, providing no details about the alleged recordings or evidence to support his claims.

“So Karen and Nithya, ask yourself,” Pratt continued, “is it possible that one of your employees may have a recording of you doing and saying something that would force you to resign in disgrace?”
Newsweek has contacted the offices of Raman and Bass for comment via email on Saturday outside working hours.
Pratt Declares ‘War’ on Political Rivals
Pratt, who ran as an independent, had emerged as an unexpected contender during the campaign but ultimately lost the June 2 mayoral primary—in which the two candidates with the most votes advanced to the general election, regardless of party.
Bass, the Democratic incumbent, secured a spot in the runoff early, with 34.3 percent of the vote. However, the second spot remained in contention for several days before the final results shifted in favor of Raman, a progressive Democrat who received 29 percent of the vote to Pratt’s 25.5 percent.
In the video, Pratt said that now his campaign was over, he didn’t have to worry about “offending CNN viewers,” adding: “I don’t have campaign laws hamstringing me now. It’s war.”
He went on to say that he wanted the Democratic candidates to “be awake at night, sweating, worried about 5 a.m. when the FBI blazers bust in the door, breaking open your office, because I assure you, they’re coming.”
How Pratt Took on Bass and Raman
Pratt’s campaign transformed the Los Angeles mayoral race from a conventional contest into one of the year’s most closely watched political spectacles. He entered the race after losing his Pacific Palisades home in the 2025 wildfires, presenting himself as a political outsider who could challenge what he described as a failed City Hall establishment.
Throughout the campaign, Pratt relied heavily on social media and viral videos to build support, attracting national attention and earning an endorsement from President Donald Trump. He focused on issues such as homelessness, crime, public safety and the city’s recovery from the devastating wildfires, arguing that local leaders had failed to address residents’ concerns.
Many of Pratt’s attacks were directed at Bass, whom he blamed for the city’s response to the fires and for broader concerns about homelessness and public disorder. His campaign slogan, “Enough is enough,” became a rallying cry for supporters frustrated with the status quo.
Raman, meanwhile, positioned herself as a progressive alternative to Bass. The City Council member campaigned on housing affordability, homelessness reform and improvements to city services, while criticizing what she described as City Hall’s ties to powerful interests.
Bass, meanwhile, defended her record as her rivals argued that Los Angeles needed a different approach. Although Pratt ultimately failed to advance to the runoff, he and Raman tapped into voter dissatisfaction with city leadership.
Pratt’s Goal ‘Hasn’t Changed’
Despite his defeat, Pratt has made it clear that he has no intention of stepping away from politics. “Do you think you can get rid of me that easily?” he said in the video released on Friday.
“I didn’t get in this for political power. I got in this to expose this corrupt machine,” Pratt said.
“You have no idea how bad things are about to get for this city,” he continued, adding: “This city is a mess, and you’re about to reward the arsonists who torched the place with four more years of destruction.
“My goal hasn’t changed. I’ve been laser focused on stopping these commie animals, and I will stop them.”
