Kent drivers to face week of M20, A20 and Dartford Tunnel closures

Overnight works will affect some of the county’s busiest roads

Maintenance works will impact both the east and west tunnels at the Dartford Crossing this week.

Kent road users will need to plan any late night or early morning journeys ahead this week as overnight closures will affect major motorways and A-roads around the county.

Between Monday, June 15 and Sunday, June 21, various repair and upgrade works will impact travel along some of Kent’s busiest routes.

This includes multiple nights of closures on the A20 near Dover for bridge works. The westbound carriageway will shut each night from Monday to Thursday inclusive between Courtwood Interchange and Alkham Valley.

Meanwhile the M20 will see regular overnight closures on the London-bound carriageway between Junction 3, for Addington Interchange, and Junction 1, at Swanley Interchange.

This stretch of the road will shut each night from Monday to Thursday between 10pm and 5.30am, then 11pm to 6am on Friday night.

Maintenance continues at the Dartford Crossing this week as well, impacting both the east and west tunnels at different times.

Monday, June 15

• The A20 westbound will shut from Courtwood Interchange to Alkham Valley from 8pm to 6am for bridge works.
• The A21 southbound Chipstead westbound and Chipstead eastbound exit slips will be shut from 10pm to 5.30am for routine maintenance.
• The A282 northbound west tunnel of the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 9pm to 5.30am for maintenance. The A282 northbound Junction 1a entry slip will shut during this time also.
• The M2 westbound Junction 3 entry slip will close between 8pm and 6am for surface works.
• The M20 eastbound Junction 10 exit slip will be closed from 8pm to 5am for maintenance.
• The M20 eastbound Junction 10a entry and exit slips will shut between 8pm and 5am for maintenance.
• The M20 westbound will be closed between Junction 3 and Junction 1 from 10pm to 5.30am for resurfacing.
• The M20 eastbound Junction 1 entry slip will be closed between 10pm and 5.30am for barrier repairs.
• The M25 Junction 2 roundabout will shut from 10pm to 5.30am for joint investigations.
• The M25 clockwise Junction 4 entry slip will be closed between 10pm and 5.30am for horticulture works.

Tuesday, June 16

• The A2 westbound Cobham services exit slip will be shut between 8pm and 6am for maintenance.
• The A20 westbound will shut from Courtwood Interchange to Alkham Valley from 8pm to 6am for bridge works.
• The A21 northbound will shut from Vauxhall Interchange to Morleys roundabout between 8pm and 6am for horticulture works.
• The A282 northbound west tunnel of the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 9pm to 5.30am for maintenance. The A282 northbound Junction 1a entry slip will shut during this time also.
• The M2 westbound Junction 3 entry slip will close between 8pm and 6am for surface works.
• The M20 westbound will be closed between Junction 3 and Junction 1 from 10pm to 5.30am for resurfacing.
• The M25 anti-clockwise Junction 4 exit and entry slips will be closed between 10pm and 5.30am for routine maintenance.
• The M25 Junction 2 roundabout will shut from 10pm to 5.30am for joint investigations.

Wednesday, June 17

• The A20 westbound will shut from Courtwood Interchange to Alkham Valley from 8pm to 6am for bridge works.
• The A21 northbound will shut from Vauxhall Interchange to Morleys roundabout between 8pm and 6am for horticulture works.
• The A282 northbound west tunnel of the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 9pm to 5.30am for maintenance. The A282 northbound Junction 1a entry slip will shut during this time also.
• The M2 westbound Junction 3 entry slip will close between 8pm and 6am for surface works.
• The M20 eastbound Junction 7 freeflow slip road will shut from 8pm to 6am for KCC works.
• The M20 westbound will be closed between Junction 3 and Junction 1 from 10pm to 5.30am for resurfacing.
• The M25 clockwise Junction 4 entry and exit slips will be shut between 10pm and 5.30am for routine maintenance.
• The M25 Junction 2 roundabout will shut from 10pm to 5.30am for joint investigations.

Thursday, June 18

• The M20 eastbound Junction 11a exit slip will shut between 8pm and 5am for maintenance.
• The M20 eastbound Junction 7 freeflow slip road will shut from 8pm to 6am for KCC works.
• The M20 westbound will be closed between Junction 3 and Junction 1 from 11pm to 6am for resurfacing.
• The M25 will be closed in both directions between Hewitts Roundabout and Junction 4 from 11pm to 5.30am for routine maintenance. The Junction 4 roundabout will also be closed at this time.

Saturday, June 20

• The A2 westbound will close from Wincheap to Upper Harbledown between 9pm and 6am for survey works.
• The A282 northbound west tunnel of the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 10pm to 5am for maintenance

Sunday, June 21

• The A2 westbound Pepperhill entry and exit slips will be shut from 8pm to 6am for survey works.
• The A2 westbound will close from Wincheap to Upper Harbledown between 9pm and 6am for survey works.
• The A282 northbound east tunnel at the Dartford Crossing will close between 10.30pm and 5.30am for tunnel works. There will be no access for vehicles over 4.8m tall. Vehicles between 4.8m (15‘-9”) and 5.0m (16’-6”) high will be diverted via M25 clockwise.
• The M2 eastbound Junction 3 entry slip will be shut from 8pm to 6am for survey works.
