All Creatures Great and Small fans say same thing about new arrival minutes into show

The latest episode of the Channel 5 period drama saw the arrival of a new character, who viewers already feel strongly about.

Newcomer Elexi Walker has charmed All Creatures Great and Small viewers who say they hope she stays for good.

The actress has joined the cast of the Channel 5 period drama as Sister Rose, who calls out vet James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) over an ill rescue dog. She then helps him secure an X-ray machine for the clinic, telling him the hospital was getting rid of it and refusing to take no for an answer.

Fans of the Yorkshire-set series quickly fell for the straight-talking character, posting messages on X (Twitter) calling for her to be a permanent part of the show and praising her “strong” character.

One viewer posted on X: “I already love Sister Rose. I hope we can keep her permanently.”

“I love Sister Rose already,” said another, as someone else posted: “We LOVE seeing more strong women on the show! Welcome Sister Rose.”

One fan called the character “THE MVP” and another remarked that she “looks like a formidable addition to the cast” of the programme.

Sister Rose helped out the vet

Somebody else commented on the platform: “It was great to see Sister Rose making an appearance. Had started listening to the audiobooks, hearing her stories, and now we have face to the name.”

“I think we are all a Sister Rose fangirl,” posted another viewer.

One quipped: “I need Audrey and Sister Rose to join forces and fight crimes together.”

Set in Northern England in the 1930s and 1940s, All Creatures Great and Small is based on the books written by Alf Wight, who wrote under the pen name James Herriot.

It James’s journey as a vet, as well as the bonds he forms with characters such as Siegfried Farnon (Samuel) and Mrs Hall (Anna) and his marriage with love interest Helen (Rachel Shenton).

The show started in 2020, with its sixth run currently airing. There have also been several specials about the goings on at Skeldale House.

All Creatures Great and Small airs on Channel 5.
