An 18-year-old Vernon man died Monday afternoon in a rollover crash on Westside Road, according to RCMP.
Police were called around 3:45 p.m. to an area near the intersection of Westside Road and Lawrence Lane on Westside Road, following reports of a single-vehicle rollover.
RCMP said an older grey Dodge Ram was travelling northbound when it drifted onto the soft shoulder and rolled off the roadway.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene, RCMP said.
“The pick-up truck’s two passengers, a 15-year-old youth and a 19-year-old woman from Vernon, were also ejected and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” RCMP said.
Both passengers were taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services.
Westside Road was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene.
The collision remains under investigation.
Anyone with information, including dashcam footage recorded on Westside Road between 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Monday that may have captured the grey Dodge Ram, is asked to contact Const. Wagner-Michaud of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Armstrong detachment at 250-546-3028.
