‘I Cheated on My Wife’ Former congressional candidate admits to 2022 affair

TULSA, Okla. –

Jackson Lahmeyer has admitted to having an intimate relationship with a woman who was not his wife in an interview with The Daily Mail.

According to a new interview with the British tabloid, Lahmeyer admitted to having an affair in 2022, saying “I cheated on my wife.”

He also told the tabloid he knew what he was doing was wrong but convinced himself it would never become public.

Lahmeyer told The Daily Mail that he apologized to President Donald Trump, his wife, his constituents and his congregation. He also announced he was leaving politics and taking a sabbatical from preaching.

Lahmeyer, who is the pastor of Tulsa’s Sheridan Church, held a 30-minute closed-door meeting with church members Wednesday.

Church members told News On 6 that Lahmeyer acknowledged his mistakes, apologized and remains a “good man.”

Lahmeyer suspended his campaign for Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District just one day after securing enough votes to force an August runoff against Tulsa businessman Mark Tedford.

In a statement, Lahmeyer said, “After prayerful consideration with my wife, Kendra, and my team over the last 24 hours, I’ve made the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for Congress.”

Lahmeyer continued, “I do not want to be a distraction to my family, my church, and the great people of Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District, who deserve a strong conservative voice representing them in Washington.

“I sincerely appreciate all the support along the way. I will never forget those who stood by me and fought alongside us when I needed them the most.”

President Donald Trump later withdrew his endorsement of Lahmeyer and endorsed Tedford, who will now face Democratic candidate John Croissant in the November general election.

News On 6 first reported on June 15 that Lahmeyer publicly defended himself after The Daily Mail reported that he exchanged inappropriate text messages with the same woman.

Those text messages were also independently provided to News On 6 on June 12.
