A former Love Island contestant has shed light on edited footage that she says was “misunderstood”.

Series 13 is in full swing, delivering no shortage of drama and jaw-dropping moments. As the third week comes to an end, audiences have already seen three surprise departures and several bombshell entries, with tensions mounting inside the villa.

Robyn was the first to be sent home following a harsh recoupling, swiftly followed by Ope and Victoria after a heated round of truth or dare. Bombshell George also departed the villa for what he described as personal matters.

Now, Liverpool-based DJ Robyn has spoken out about her stint in the villa, while setting the record straight on her remarks in what she claims was a heavily edited sequence.

The Islander faced criticism following George’s announced departure from the programme, with fellow contestants expressing their worry and affection for the footballer. Robyn was later heard quipping: “Does that mean there’s fit men coming in or what?”, reports OK!.

Lorenzo responded in jest: “Two minutes and she’s already thinking about another man.” Robyn countered: “Sorry I’m just saying is there any men coming in?”.

Numerous fans took to social media, with one viewer posting: “George haven’t even left the outside of the villa and Robyn asked for fit men (laughing emojis).”

Another remarked: “”Does that mean any fit men are coming in or what?” Robyn please.” A third commented: “robyn asking for new fit men before george has even gotten to the airport.”

In a video posted to Instagram, Robyn was recently interviewed by Capital XTRA, where she addressed remarks she made after George’s departure. She explained: “So obviously George’s exit was a huge shock. I literally woke up in the morning first thing and said where’s George.”

Discussing her reaction to his departure, she continued: “I can confirm they have edited it wrong. I did not say straight away are we going to get more fit men, I was actually gutted, like genuinely gutted. I’d done a beach hut and everything between that time.”

Emphasising it was a “good 20 – 25 minutes later” before her remark, Robyn stated: “That’s definitely been misunderstood. I was trying to lift the vibe. Someone had just left so everyone needs to crack a joke.”

This isn’t the first occasion Robyn has criticised the programme’s editing, having previously identified some Islanders receiving a “bad edit”.

Speaking exclusively to Closer, she suggested Ope “definitely had a bad edit” alongside Angelista, who she felt was “coming off a little bit boring” – far removed from her actual personality.

She also noted: “I don’t think Lola’s had enough screen time as a well because she’s a funny girl.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
