‘The Bear’ Paid Tribute To Rob Reiner In Series Finale

As The Bear closed its doors at FX on Hulu after five seasons, the series finale paid a subtle tribute to late star Rob Reiner.

In the concluding episode, ‘The Original Beef of Chicagoland’, line cook Ebra (Edwin Lee Gibson) convinces Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) to franchise the eatery and gives their restaurant consultant Albert (Reiner) call when he finds the perfect location for their expansion.

“Albert, we are in business,” Ebra says into the phone. “It’s perfect. I will have all the documents, email it to you immediately. Anything else I can do?”

Although Albert cannot be heard on the other end of the line, the conversation clearly goes well. “As you wish,” adds Ebra, quoting Westley (Cary Elwes) in the Reiner-helmed 1987 romance The Princess Bride.

Reiner appeared as Albert Schnurr in a three-episode arc during Season 4 of the Christopher Storer series last year.

Rob and wife Michele’s son Nick Reiner was arrested for allegedly killing the couple in their Brentwood home on Sunday, Dec. 14.

In February, Nick entered a not guilty plea on two counts of first-degree murder. Nick’s case was most recently pushed to the fall as investigators continue collecting evidence.
