PHX Arena is no longer the home of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury.

The teams announced on Oct. 2 that their basketball arena in downtown Phoenix now will be named the Mortgage Matchup Center as part of a 10-year, $115 million naming rights deal with United Wholesale Mortgage.

Mortgage Matchup is the consumer-facing brand of United Wholesale Mortgage. Suns owner Mat Ishbia is the president and CEO of United Wholesale Mortgage.

“I’m extremely excited about this partnership as it represents two organizations that have natural alignment and a shared commitment to excellence,” Ishbia said in a statement. “Arizona is one of the strongest markets for mortgage brokers and we see a fantastic opportunity through Mortgage Matchup to help consumers better understand the value of having an expert advising them through this process to ensure they get the fastest, easiest and cheapest path to homeownership or a refinance — and greater education will ensure more consumers can take advantage of those benefits.

“The Phoenix Suns and Mercury have a diverse, passionate and engaged fan base in sports that will allow us to make strong connections between mortgage brokers and consumers.”

Ishbia purchased the Suns and Mercury for a then-record $4 billion in February 2023.

In addition to being the home of the Suns and Mercury, the venue also hosts concerts and entertainment events throughout the year.

A news release said the arena welcomes more than two million guests annually.

In addition to arena naming rights, the partnership establishes Mortgage Matchup as the official mortgage partner of the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and Valley Suns, according to a statement.

The arena is scheduled to host the Women’s Final Four in 2026 and the NBA All-Star Game in 2027.

The arena, located at 201 E. Jefferson St. in Phoenix, opened in 1992 as America West Arena, named after the former Phoenix-based airline. It later was named US Airways Center, Talking Stick Resort Arena and most recently, Footprint Center before the latter’s naming rights expired early this year. The name PHX Arena was used in the interim until a new naming rights partner was secured.
