Arsenal Star Admits He Dreams Of “Playing In Italy” With Summer Exit Almost Certain

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has revealed he is very keen on a move to Italian football.

The Brazilian international has a year left on his contract with the Gunners, and, when asked by Gazzetta Dello Sport (quotes via Goal Italy) about a potential transfer to Juventus or AC Milan, Jesus replied:

“I grew up watching Serie A and dreamed of playing in Italy. Scoring two goals at the San Siro against Inter was like realising that dream. I don’t know my future, now I work, and we see what happens with Arsenal.”

Jesus will be allowed to leave the Emirates this summer if a club is prepared to match his £20m asking price.

Milan is not a likely destination for the Arsenal forward

The Rossoneri have just spent a club record €74m (£64m) plus add-ons on Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos, so the chances of the Serie A side pursuing Jesus as well are pretty slim.

Juventus, in contrast, are about to lose Dusan Vlahovic on a free transfer, and they will be seeking a new no.9.

In addition, the Bianconeri did not qualify for the Champions League, so they will be looking for a low-cost replacement, and Jesus may well come under consideration due to his availability and relatively modest valuation.

Jesus will have to reduce his salary

The 29-year-old is currently the Gunners’ second-highest earner (behind Kai Havertz), taking home roughly £265,000 a week. That is not a wage he would get in Italy.

That does raise questions about whether a move to Serie A this summer is likely, but Jesus does seem keen on the idea.

With Arsenal hoping to bring in as much money as possible to fund new signings, they will be open to any offers for the Brazilian, so we shall see how this story develops.
