Fireworks shows, Fourth of July fun in the Rockford area

(WIFR) – Several communities across the stateline will celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th birthday with fireworks, parades and festivals.

Below is a list of events around the area. Please note, admission may apply in some cases.

Thursday, July 2

  • Rock Falls Eats N’ Beats Independence Day Celebration: 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in RB& W District, fireworks at dusk

Friday, July 3

  • Rockford Symphony Orchestra America 250 Celebration
    • 7:30 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) Friday, July 3
    • Coronado Theatre, 314 N. Main Street
    • Free entrance and parking
    • Pre-concert street party at 4 p.m.
  • Village of Winnebago Fireworks: Fireworks at dusk on July 3 at athletic field near schools, parade to be held at 10 a.m. July 4
  • Davis Junction Annual Independence Day Fireworks: Fireworks at dusk at Davis Junction Community Park
  • Edgerton Lions 3rd of July Celebration: Activities from 4 p.m. to midnight at Race Track Park on Stoughton Road in Edgerton, Wisconsin. Fireworks at dusk.
  • Sky Carp Patriotic Celebration: July 3-5
    • July 3| 6:05 p.m. First Pitch: First Responders Night, Supper Club Friday & Fireworks
    • July 4| 1:05 p.m. First Pitch: Backyard BBQ Day, Poopsie’s Patriotic Bobblehead giveaway & Independence Day Celebration
    • July 5| 1:05 p.m. First Pitch: Drift to the Diamond: Celebrate the Rock

Saturday, July 4

  • Rockford Fourth of July/Fireworks Spectacular: Parade at 5 p.m., fireworks from 9:30-10 p.m., launched from Jefferson Street bridge. Synced to soundtrack on 103.1.

  • Amboy Fireworks Family Event: 4-10:30 p.m., fireworks at dusk (9 p.m.) in downtown along East Avenue
  • Beloit Pops on the Rock: Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. at Harry Moore Pavilion in Riverside Park. Fireworks at dusk with viewing at Beloit Memorial High School football stadium (bleachers closed). Doors to stadium open at 8 p.m.
  • Byron Community 4th of July Fireworks Show: Gates to Byron Dragway open at 5 p.m. with fireworks at dusk
  • Cherry Valley 4th of July: Parade begins at 1 p.m. at Village Hall and travels to Walnut Street. Fireworks at dusk in Baumann Park. Traffic information here.
  • Durand 4th of July Festival: Activities Thursday evening and all day Friday, parade at 4 p.m., fireworks at dusk Friday at Durand Schools
  • DeKalb 4th of July Celebration: DeKalb Municipal Band – Star Spangled Spectacular at 7:30 p.m., Fireworks at dusk in Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Road
  • Kirkland 4th of July Festival: Event lasts July 2-4, parade at 11 a.m. July 4, fireworks at nightfall July 4
  • Mt. Morris Let Freedom Ring: Parade at 2 p.m., fireworks at dusk
  • Prophetstown Fourth of July: Fireworks at dusk in Prophetstown State Park
  • Rochelle Independence Day: Parade from 3-4 p.m. at the corner of 5th Ave. and N. Main Street. Celebration and Fireworks from 4-10 p.m., fireworks at dusk at Atwood & Cooper Parks. Tune into 102.3 The Coyote for soundtrack to fireworks.
  • Shabbona 4th of July:
    • Pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m. at Shabbona Fire Department
    • Parade at noon
    • Fireworks at dusk over Shabbona Lake State Park
  • Stockton 4th of July Celebration: Fireworks at dusk in Stockton Memorial Park. Information on traffic detours from Stockton Police Department.

Sunday, July 5

  • Dixon Petunia Festival: Event planned for July 2-5, fireworks at 9:30 p.m. over the the Rock River. Listen live on River Country 101.7FM.

Monday, July 6

  • Utica Fireworks Celebration: 5-10 p.m. at Carey Memorial Park, 105 Division Street

Saturday, July 11

  • Freeport Tutty Baker Festival: July 10-12, fireworks at 9:30 p.m. July 11, launched from Pecatonica Freeport Boat Ramp, can be seen throughout downtown

Saturday, July 25

  • Loves Park Rhythm of the Heart Music Festival: All-day festival at 100 Heart Boulevard, fireworks around 10 p.m.

Saturday, August 8

  • Cortland Summerfest: Event Aug. 7-8, fireworks at dusk on Aug. 8 from Cortland Community Park

September 5-6

  • Maple Park Fun Fest: Activities all day Sept. 5-6.; fireworks 8:30 p.m. Sept. 6.
