Child investment ‘Trump accounts’ will accept public stock donations

Companies can donate public stock to new children’s investment accounts known as “Trump accounts,” U.S. Treasury officials announced Thursday.
More than 6 million people have signed up for the accounts, which are available to all U.S. citizens under 18 and are set to launch Saturday. Around 1.4 million of those accounts will be eligible for $1,000 in federal seed funding, which is available to children born between 2025 and 2028. Companies, nonprofits and state and local governments can also donate to the accounts.
