FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Finally reaching the finish line of the extreme heat as we approach the holiday weekend, but this heat and humidity conditions is what is fueling some sct’d. storms for this weekend.
Another First Alert Weather Day for the Extreme Heat Warning until 8pm tonight. Temperatures today reaching into the 90s and feeling like the 100s. With plenty of dry time this afternoon before evening sct’d. storm chances approach 21Country. Timing-wise the best chance for heavy rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms are after 9pm.
July 4th temperatures will be in the 90s still but heat index will still be reach near 100. Now, as far as rain chances, it won’t be a complete a wash out. Saturday you can expect morning/afternoon sct’d. storms. The good news, plenty of dry time for the afternoon before evening sct’d. storms return around 6pm-10pm.
Taking baby steps to see some “cooler” temperatures with next week in the high to mid 80s. We won’t be escaping the tropical humidity anytime soon, as dewpoints remain in the 70s.
