UFC 320 Predictions – Chris Gutierrez vs Farid Basharat Preview, Predictions And MMA Betting Odds

The bantamweight division delivers another intriguing matchup at UFC 320 this weekend. Chris Gutierrez vs Farid Basharat pits a crafty veteran against an undefeated prospect. One fighter relies on distance striking and devastating leg kicks. The other brings relentless wrestling pressure that has suffocated every opponent so far.

Gutierrez has been a bantamweight fixture for years now, building his reputation on patient striking and brutal leg kicks. ‘El Guapo’ earned a split decision over John Castaneda back in April, showing he can still hang with tough competition. Before that, he decisioned Quang Le in August 2024 after his original opponent pulled out. Funny enough, that opponent was Javid Basharat, Farid’s brother. His leg kicks are genuinely dangerous weapons that can change fights completely.

Basharat represents the new generation trying to break through. The 27 year old prospect is a perfect 13-0 in his career, including four straight UFC victories. He beat Victor Hugo by decision in October 2024 to maintain his spotless record. ‘Ferocious’ has earned his nickname through suffocating wrestling and relentless pressure. Nobody has figured out how to stop his grinding style yet, and Basharat keeps getting better with each fight.

Chris Gutierrez vs Farid Basharat Preview

Gutierrez stands 5’9″ with a 67 inch reach. His striking volume is impressive at 4.59 significant strikes landed per minute with excellent 58% accuracy. He absorbs just 2.65 strikes per minute with strong 63% striking defense.  Gutierrez averages only 0.24 takedowns per fight at 25% accuracy. His takedown defense sits at a respectable 70%, which is solid but not elite. He averages just 0.1 submissions per fight, basically none. At 34 years old with a 22-6-2 record, Gutierrez knows exactly what kind of fighter he is.

Basharat is 5’8″ with a 71 inch reach, giving him a four inch advantage over Gutierrez. He lands 4.36 significant strikes per minute at 55% accuracy. Basharat absorbs 2.57 strikes per minute with 59% striking defense. He averages a massive 3.97 takedowns per fight at 44% accuracy. His takedown defense is excellent at 80%. Basharat averages 0.5 submissions per fight, five times higher than his opponent. The undefeated prospect is orthodox stance like Gutierrez, but he fights in a completely different style.

Chris Gutierrez vs Farid Basharat Predictions And Picks

This matchup presents a classic puzzle for Gutierrez to solve. His best weapon is undoubtedly his leg kicks, which have damaged many opponents over the years. But the constant threat of Basharat’s takedowns will make him hesitant to throw those kicks. Every time Gutierrez lifts a leg, he’s vulnerable to a reactive takedown. That hesitation could completely neutralize his most dangerous tool.

Basharat can use the reach advantage to pepper Gutierrez with jabs while threatening level changes constantly. Mix in takedown attempts to drain the gas tank and accumulate control time. Even if Gutierrez defends 70% of takedowns, Basharat only needs a few successful shots to control rounds. Once on the ground, Basharat can work for submissions or simply hold position and rack up points.

If we bet on the fight, we are going with Farid Basharat to win via unanimous decision.
