Metro Phoenix stares down multiple days of extreme heat warnings

Anyone with plans for the outdoors this week may want to reconsider, as the National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for the Phoenix area. The warning is for Tuesday through Thursday — and temperatures could reach up to 116 degrees.

National Weather Service meteorologist Sean Benedict says to plan ahead.

“The heat’s obviously going to be worst during the daylight hours. So if you can, try to take advantage of the early morning and late evening time frame if you are gonna do some outdoor activities,” he said.

Benedict also recommends staying hydrated and wearing lightweight clothing.

Transportation to free cooling centers and other resources are available in Maricopa County by calling 211.
