The World Cup’s once 48-team field is getting smaller and smaller.
On Saturday, July 4, the round of 16 kicked off with some delightfully good games. After a tense start to the matchup, Morocco pulled away in the second half with three goals to secure its spot in the quarterfinals. Paraguay did everything it could to rattle France, but Kylian Mbappé’s penalty kick in the 70th minute sealed the victory for Les Bleus.
On Sunday, July 5, Erling Haaland’s brace against Norway was enough to cruise past Brazil despite a late penalty kick from Neymar. England and Mexico’s matchup had everything – penalty kicks, red cards and yellow cards, too – but the Three Lions held on to advance to the next round.
