Coronation Street spoilers for next week tease an intriguing new storyline centred around Joseph Brown.
Joseph, portrayed by William Flanagan, is the son of Chesney Winter-Brown and Katy Armstrong. Tragically, back in 2017, Katy, who had relocated to Portugal in 2015 with Joseph to be with her mum Linda Hancock, was killed off-screen following a fatal car accident.
Joseph subsequently returned to the UK and life on the cobbles to live with his father Chesney. Since then, Joseph’s grandmother Linda, portrayed by Jacqueline Leonard, has made occasional visits to the cobbles from Portugal and has been funding Joseph’s place at a local private school.

However, fresh spoilers suggest things could be about to shift dramatically. In forthcoming scenes, Joseph hands Chesney and Gemma his school report before making a hasty exit.
The pair are soon left shocked to learn that Joseph is regularly late submitting his homework, raising serious concerns about how he is coping academically.
Later in the week, Gemma confides in her mother Bernie Winter that Joseph is struggling to keep on top of his homework as the hustle and bustle of their busy household makes it virtually impossible for him to concentrate.

Joseph has four siblings – Aled, Bryn, Llio and Carys, following Chesney and Gemma’s arrival of quadruplets back in 2019.
Ever the problem-solver, Bernie proposes that Joseph use her home as a quiet retreat to study, much to the relief and gratitude of both Chesney and Gemma.
Yet the pair’s troubles are only just beginning, as Chesney later delivers the devastating news to Gemma that Linda’s holiday rental venture has collapsed and she can no longer foot the bill for Joseph’s school fees.

The family are left fretting over Joseph’s future education as Chesney reveals to Gemma that he’s been considering taking out a loan to cover his son’s fees. Meanwhile, Bernie is appalled at the prospect of the family plunging further into debt given their already strained finances.
As the week draws to a close, Gemma and Chesney inform Joseph that Linda has been in contact and has somehow managed to scrape together the money for his school fees. But will things run smoothly, and just how long will Joseph’s fees remain covered?
