Bucks County Wawa sells $3 million winning Mega Millions ticket

See which states are the luckiest in the lottery

USA TODAY’s Fernando Cervantes shares which states have claimed the most Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots wins.

A Warminster Wawa recently served one fortunate customer, as a ticket sold there won $3 million in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, according to the PA Lottery.

The winning ticket matched all five of the white balls drawn on July 3: 5-9-29-47-57. However, it didn’t match the yellow Mega Ball: 16.

The Wawa at 10 Davisville Road will receive a $10,000 reward.

The Pennsylvania Lottery Mega Millions jackpot is now worth $576 million, which would translate into about $253.9 million in cash for a lucky winner. The next drawing is Tuesday, July 7.

Over 13,400 tickets won smaller prizes in the drawing. Players may check their ticket numbers on the Pennsylvania Lottery website. Prizes may be claimed until one year from the drawing date.

A Cash 5 ticket recently sold at a Morrisville tobacco shop won $666,667 in a June 29 drawing. The odds for that ticket were 1 in 962,598.

Since 1972, the Pennsylvania Lottery, operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, has raised over $37.2 billion in funding for programs serving older residents.

Between 60 and 73% of Pennsylvania adults gambled in the past year, according to research published by Penn State’s Criminal Justice Center, the University of Kentucky’s College of Social Work and the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs in January.

Nearly a third of those gamblers were at risk of “problem gambling,” the researchers said, but very few reported seeking help. Young men were most at risk of harmful gambling behaviors.

Pennsylvania’s Gambling Helpline offers assistance 24/7 by phone at 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537), by text at 800GAM and via online chat.
