Savannah Guthrie surprises co-hosts after changing outfit on ‘Today’ show

Savannah Guthrie isn’t afraid of a last-minute wardrobe change.

On a Tuesday, July 7 episode of the “Today” show, the 54-year-old co-anchor shocked viewers by completely switching her outfit mid-broadcast.

During a PopStart segment, she noticed she didn’t get the memo when Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones all wore yellow while Guthrie was alone in wearing blue. Even co-anchor Craig Melvin fit the color scheme with his yellow-and-blue striped tie.

“You guys, did you really have a memo? I’m changing!” she told the others after realizing she was the odd one out.

Bush Hager teased Guthrie, saying, “I texted you, and you did not receive my text.”

And so, without hesitation, Guthrie opted for a new look during the commercial break, donning a vibrant yellow gingham dress and surprising viewers when the episode returned. “I did, girls! I wanted to be with my ladies,” Guthrie said.

‘Today’ hosts say they will wear yellow on Tuesdays now

Dreyer said she was thrilled she found the gown, while Melvin complimented her for changing “that fast!”

Bush Hager then suggested that on Tuesdays, they will wear yellow, with Guthrie adding, “We’re starting it today!”

Guthrie’s cast has long supported her both on and off camera during the disappearance and presumed kidnapping of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen on Jan. 30 near Tucson, Arizona. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI continue to investigate the case, though there have not been any major recent updates.

The TV journalist continues to hold out hope for answers, urging the public to come forward with any information that could be relevant. On June 7, she posted a message to her Instagram story, writing “Oh my, my soul it cries out, soul, it cries out” and “Bring her home,” along with a heart emoji.
