If you’re looking for ways to experience Oklahoma’s culinary scene in an exciting way, some upcoming events are offering diners the chance to try food from multiple chefs in one place.

The events include the second installment of a battle between OKC and Tulsa and a sandwich showdown poised to pit chefs from across the metro against one another.

The events are scheduled for late July, meaning there is still time for you to make plans, get tickets and add them to your calendars.

Here’s what to know about each event, including ticketing information, location, price and more.

405 vs. 918: A Culinary Battle returns for a second year

Teams of four chefs from Oklahoma City and Tulsa will battle it out at The Jones Assembly in the now annual four-course showdown to determine which city’s culinarians reign supreme.

The event, put together by chef Eric Smith, The Jones Assembly and EatingOKC.com, benefits local nonprofits and also includes a silent auction. This year’s proceeds go to the OKC Metro Alliance, Inc. First Step program, Pivot – A Turning Point for Youth and Youth Services of Tulsa.

The chef lineups include Pascal Buthion from La Baguette Bistro, Bryant Gallegos from Le Parisien, Garrett Hare from nonesuch and Kathryn Mathis from Pizzeria Gusto and Big Truck Tacos on the OKC team. The Tulsa team includes Roque Heidler from Boston Title & Abstract, Marco Herrera from Little Belly, Gabe Lazarde from Maestro and Caleb Mohr from FarmBar.

405 vs. 918: A Culinary Battle is scheduled for Monday, July 20 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $165.71, with the option to add on a wine pairing for $62.38. Each ticket secures a plate from all four courses for one of the cities. Visit etix.com to purchase tickets.

Sandwich Showdown at 39 Restaurant at First Americans Museum

Chef Ben Hutton of 39 Restaurant at the First Americans Museum in OKC recently issued a challenge to other chefs across the city.

The question: who can make the best sandwich in the metro? At stake: a $1,000 cash prize, a belt for the winner and bragging rights.

Now chefs across town are coming up with their ultimate sandwich iterations in preparation for the Chef v. Chef Sandwich Showdown at 11 a.m. on July 25.

So far, Hutton will be joined by chefs like Jessie Gomez of Vast, Eric Smith and Isabel Granata of The Crown, Kurt Fleischfresser of Western Concepts, Guadalupe de Jesus Aguirre of Taco Luv, Garrett Hare of nonesuch, and more. Hutton’s twin brother Zach, who currently works at The Old Ice House in Edmond, is even jumping in on the challenge.

The event will also feature live music and the chance to watch the chefs in action as they prepare their sandwiches for judging.

Tickets for the event are $40 in advance, and include the chance to try all of the chefs sandwiches. Plus, there’s an option to add on a ticket to the after-party for an extra $30. Visit OpenTable.com to purchase tickets.
