First Alert Weather Day: Tracking Thursday’s scattered storms

Good morning and happy Thursday! We are watching our first round of rain for the day move in from the west. Today is a First Alert Weather Day due to the possibility of a few strong to severe storms in the afternoon and evening. We stay warm and humid for the rest of the week.

Tracking storms on Thursday

The first chance of showers and thunderstorms will be in the morning hours, associated with a weakening complex of storms.

Dry time is expected for much of the afternoon before additional storms develop in the afternoon and evening.

The evening storms will have their peak strength through about 10PM and then gradually weaken into the rest of the night.

The main concern for any severe weather will be with the evening storms. Damaging wind gusts are the primary concern with a slightly lower threat for hail. Storms could also produce some locally heavy rain, but the flash flooding threat is very low.

Looking ahead

Showers and storms are possible again Friday and Friday night and we’ll need to keep an eye on any of that activity, but the severe weather threat does appear low.

Temperatures will drop for the weekend with humidity becoming less of an issue, though it will still be sticky.
