Air Canada flight veers off runway at Montreal airport

An Air Canada flight veered off the runway at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport Thursday afternoon, causing operational delays at the airport.
In a statement to CTV News, Air Canada said no injuries are reported.
“Flight AC774 arriving from LAX on July 9, 2026 landed normally at Montreal International Airport, then sustained a runway excursion and travelled through the grass when exiting the main runway,” according to the statement.
“The 156 passengers and 6 crew will be deplaned and transported to the terminal via buses. Plans are being made to tow the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to the hangar where a full inspection will take place.”
The airline says an investigation into this incident is underway.
According to the Montreal airport, the emergency coordination centre has been activated at the airport, resulting in the temporarily closure of the North Runaway.
“To facilitate the safe evacuation of passengers, the North Runway has been temporarily closed, which may result in operational delays,” said Émilie Chevrette, corporate communications advisor for the airport.
“Passengers are encouraged to check the status of their flights before travelling to YUL.”
