“In our lives we all go through some some kind of instability with money and that’s the main reason. We’re a strong company and we can certainly get out there and help out,” said Robert Grottke, the owner of Tom and Jerry’s.
Grottke says they can get employees to work almost immediately, with pay checks following soon safter.
“For those that are really in dire need, we’ll work them Saturday or Sunday. Just get them going right away. So if someone gets hired today, we’ll get them paid as soon as next Friday,” explained Grottke.
Tom and Jerry’s adds they’re also hiring general managers during the hiring event.
But the assistance doesn’t stop with the workers. Tom and Jerry’s will honor Beef-a-Roo coupons—including the ones printed on Alpine Kiwanis Brat Days tickets.
“Also found out another one of the Kiwanis clubs had their pork chop and any coupon that has Beef-a-Roo on it, Tom and Jerry’s will honor that as well,” said Karen Tilly before she thanked the restaurant for their generosity.
“We want to let all of our customers know, all of Beef-a-Roo’s customers know to bring those coupons by, we’d be happy to take them,” said Grottke.
And for the fundraisers set by the schools, Grottke says Tom and Jerry’s will be happy to take over and even provide donations too.
“We can make sure that whatever they lost we can get them on track,” Grottke stated.
The restaurant owner says there is more to come in the future, but for now it’s about helping those who need it most.
“Unfortunately for the people at Beef-a-Roo, they’re without a job. But I think just in whole, if all of us can jump out and help, they need help right now,” said Grottke.
The Freeport Beef-a-Roo will also honor customers’ Beef-a-Roo coupons. The restaurant at 1804 S. West Ave. is locally owned and not affected by the closures.
