MLW strips Bishop Dyer of tag title amid WWE return reports

The former Baron Corbin is no longer one half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions.
On Saturday’s July 4 edition of MLW Fusion, the storyline reason for Bishop Dyer’s absence was addressed, with Rich Bocchini stating that Dyer had been using his status as a champion to make salary demands of the promotion. Bocchini said Dyer had been “locked out” of MLW until he returned with a “reasonable mindset.”
Bocchini said on the broadcast:
“I can now confirm this: negotiations between Dyer and Major League Wrestling have officially hit a total standstill. And my sources tell me that Dyer has been using, or attempting to use, his status as a World Tag Team Champion as the ultimate leverage.
We’re talking about a salary bump and perks demands that would make a billionaire blush.
Now, the league’s response to this: they’ve had enough. As of this moment, Bishop Dyer has officially been locked out of Major League Wrestling until he returns with a reasonable mindset.”
Dyer last wrestled for MLW on May 1 at the joint CMLL-MLW show at Arena Mexico, where he and Donovan Dijak defended the MLW World Tag Team titles against Averno and Euforia.
The show-long story on Fusion this week was that Dijak had until the end of the episode to name a new partner.
In the night’s main event, Dijak lost a singles match to Karl Anderson. After the match, Anderson was attacked by Josh Bishop, who was then confirmed as the newest member of The Skyscrapers, Dijak’s new partner, and one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions.
Baron Corbin’s WWE return has been “heavily talked about”
Dave Meltzer reported on the May 17 edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that while it wasn’t 100 percent confirmed that Corbin would be heading back to WWE, it was something that had been “heavily talked about.”
“It might even be done, but I haven’t had it officially confirmed to me it’s done. But I have 100% confirmed that it’s been heavily talked about,” Meltzer said.
Meltzer also speculated that Corbin could be returning as part of Danhausen’s current storyline.
“On the SmackDown show, when Danhausen was talking about something bigger, my gut was that that’s who it is. That’s just my speculation, but I just know that he’s been talked with about being brought in.”
