1 person dead, 2 others seriously injured in North York shooting

One person is dead, and two others were seriously injured following a shooting in North York late Friday night.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue just after 11 p.m. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they located two people with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

A short while later, police located a third victim — 22-year-old Abdihamiim Aden — who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are searching for three young suspects described as “tall and lanky” who fled in a Honda Civic. That vehicle was later located on fire in Brampton at approximately 3 a.m.

Investigators say it was stolen from North York several days ago.

Meanwhile, area residents say the violence has left them shaken.

“It’s sad to see young people, guns and guns, it’s really hard,” said one woman. “My husband said, we need to move, we need to move, but the rent is so high now. Where are you going?”
