Prime Video’s ‘Carrie’ Series Gets First-Look Images

More than 50 years after Stephen King’s debut novel, Carrie White is back for a bloody good time in her first series adaptation.

On Monday, Prime Video shared first-look images of Mike Flanagan’s eight-episode reinvention of King’s 1974 novel Carrie, premiering this fall on the streamer, including the reveal of Summer Howell as the titular telekinetic teen, for which she auditioned against 1,000 other young actresses.

In Carrie, the misfit high‑schooler (Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.

The cast’s ensemble also includes Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.

Written and executive produced by showrunner Flanagan, who also directs four episodes, he’s joined by Stephen King as an executive producer on the Amazon MGM Studios production.

Marking the book’s first TV series adaptation, Carrie is preceded by three direct feature adaptations in 1976, 2002 and 2013, as well as the 1999 sequel The Rage: Carrie 2.
