UPDATE: One in custody after armed man barricades himself in downtown Duluth storage unit

1:05 P.M. UPDATE: A man was seen being taken into custody around 1:05 P.M. according to Duluth Police on scene.
Police say there is no danger to the public at this time.

UPDATE: A man armed with a firearm has barricaded himself inside a storage unit in downtown Duluth, prompting a large police response Wednesday morning.
Duluth Police say the incident is happening in the 100 block of West 1st Street. The department’s Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT have been called to the scene to work toward a peaceful resolution.
The 100 block of West 1st Street is closed. Police are urging the public to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
No injuries have been reported. This is a developing story.
DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Northern News Now is working to learn more about an active police presence underway in downtown Duluth Wednesday morning.
It’s happening near 1st Avenue West and Superior Street.
As of 11 a.m., some roads in that area have been blocked off by police.
We have reached out to Duluth Police spokespeople to learn more about what authorities are responding to.
