The M5 has been closed in both directions while police attend to an emergency incident
- Diversion routes are in place around the closure, which is between junctions 23 and 24 in both directions.
- Southbound traffic stuck within the closure has already been released, National Highways has said, and emergency crews are working to release the northbound side.
- Northbound traffic is advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs.
- Leave the M5 northbound at J24 and take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto the A38. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A38 (Taunton Road)
- Follow the A38 through Bridgewater to the roundabout with the A39 and take the 3rd exit onto the A39. Continue on the A39 to the M5 J23 roundabout and take the 1st exit to rejoin the M5 northbound.
- Southbound traffic is advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol on road signs
- Exit M5 J23 and take the third exit off the roundabout onto the A39. Follow the A39 to Dunball roundabout with the junction of the A38.
- Take the first exit onto the A38 southbound. Follow the A38 until it meets M5 Junction 24. Re-Join the M5 southbound at Junction 24.
