Warm temperatures are predicted to continue

The heat health alert covering Liverpool and others parts of the country has been lifted but a return to scorching temperatures may not be far away. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued yellow heat health alerts issued for the East Midlands, East of England, London, North West, South East, South West and West Midlands last week.
These came to an end on Friday, July 17 at 9pm. No weather warnings by the UKHSA or the Met Office are currently in place. However, temperatures could reach as high as 38C next week.
The Global Forecast System (GFS) model shows temperatures rising into the 30s once more on July 27, peaking at 33C in western England and reaching 32C quite widely across southern areas.
Temperatures should then rise again on July 28, reaching 35C in southern and western England. Highs of 34C are possible in the Midlands and eastern areas, with temperatures reaching 31C in northern areas such as Merseyside.
The data suggests July 29 could be the hottest day of the year, with the mercury rising to 38C across huge swathes of western, central and eastern England. Highs of 37C are on the cards from the south up to Yorkshire, according to the GFS model predictions.
The Met Office said it is too soon to say whether heatwave conditions will last beyond the next 10 days and towards the end of July. However, the Met Office forecast for July 22 to July 31 said more “above average” conditions are possible.
Today in Liverpool, the Met Office has forecast sunny weather throughout the day, though it will be cooler than the high 20s and early 30s we saw last week.
It is predicted to hover around 20C for most of the day, reaching a high of 21C between 3pm and 4pm. It will drop to 18C by 11pm. There is less than a five percent chance of rain.
The Met Office forecast for the North West this week said: “Today: dry with sunny spells and patchy cloud on Monday morning. Cloud lifting and breaking through the afternoon to leave more lengthy sunshine. Feeling pleasantly warm. Maximum temperature 22C.
“Tonight: A dry and fine end to the day with plenty of evening sunshine. Staying dry overnight with clear spells, some patchy cloud and light winds. Minimum temperature 10C.
“Tuesday: Continuing largely fine, dry and settled, some thicker cloud around at times, perhaps with the odd spot of drizzle over the Lake District. Maximum temperature 20C.
“Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Largely dry over the next few days with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells. A few showers are possible where the cloud thickens. Temperatures around or just above average.”
