Look, nobody in Oasis has ever been known for their agreeability. Liam Gallagher continued his longtime legacy of talking crap about other artists with his recap of this year’s World Cup halftime show, tweeting out various annoyances that plagued him. “It’s a good job I’ve got my spiritual socks on or that halftime entertainment could have tipped me over the edge,” the Brit wrote. The halftime show was a showcase for various world-spanning artists. There was American icon Madonna, Canadian Justin Bieber, Colombian singer Shakira, Nigeria’s Burna Boy, and South Korean superstars BTS. The only one Gallagher seemed to like was Bieber. “Justin rules,” he said.
The halftime show, which was produced by Oasis’s fellow Brit-rock band Coldplay, also featured Gustavo Dudamel conducting a children’s choir singing with the Muppets. With that in mind, it makes sense that Gallagher’s overall review was it was “like a bad trip.”
Someone replied to his critique that Oasis would have “smashed it.” “It’s not about us well it is,” Gallagher said, “but still it’s absolutely insane behavior it’s cuckoo with a capital K.” Another person asked if he’d recovered from the show, to which Gallagher replied, “It was touch n go there for 27 minutes I nearly died.” Anyone holding out hope for an Oasis remix of “Danceteria” should not abandon hope — if Gallagher wants to work things out with Madge, then his brother Noel can make the intro.
