The Utah Mammoth are locking down a key piece of their blueline.
Utah signed an eight-year extension with right-shot defenceman John Marino, the team announced on Tuesday. The deal has an average annual value of $6.75 million.
Marino skated in 80 games for the Mammoth in 2025-26, averaging 20:12 of ice time while posting four goals, 32 assists and a plus-43 rating.
The 29-year-old also scored one goal in Utah’s six-game first-round loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
“We value John’s long-term commitment to Utah and what he brings to our group every day,” Mammoth president Chris Armstrong said in a statement. “His professionalism and competitiveness, as well as the stability and puck-moving ability that he provides on our blue line, makes him an invaluable cornerstone for our franchise.”
A veteran of seven NHL seasons, Marino has spent two years with the Mammoth after previously making stops in New Jersey and Pittsburgh. He landed with Utah after being part of a four-piece trade with the Devils in the summer of 2024.
In 443 career games, Marino has 23 goals, 134 assists and a plus-82 rating.
