Although the summer heat waves and storms may feel like they’re here to stay, fall is approaching.
This year, the first day of fall is Tuesday, Sept. 22. Early forecasts for the season suggest a nice relief from the ongoing summer of high temperatures and persistent rain.
Here’s what The Old Farmer’s Almanac has to say about fall 2026.
Fall 2026 weather forecast
The almanac is predicting a fall with less precipitation and varied temperatures. Coastal parts of the country are expected to feel cooler temperatures, while states in the middle of the country may see warmer temperatures.
South Jersey is predicted to have a cooler, drier fall in comparison to previous years, according to the almanac.
September and October are forecasted to bring cooler temperatures that average approximately a degree Fahrenheit below normal. There’s also set to be roughly 1 inch less rainfall than usual.
This year’s forecast is slightly different from last year’s fall forecast, which predicted a warm and dry season.
