NRL side set to lose another man to Super League as international forward offered long-term deal

NRL outfit St George Illawarra Dragons could be set to lose a SIXTH player to Super League this year, with another one of their off-contract stars set to join the northern hemisphere.

Trio Damien Cook, Tyrell Sloan and Mat Feagai have all penned deals at Castleford, linking up with former Dragons assistant coach Ryan Carr at the club.

As well as that, Emre Guler has joined Wakefield Trinity on a three-year deal, meaning he won’t be too far away from his current teammates in West Yorkshire.

Whilst it is unconfirmed, Catalans Dragons are said to have signed back-rower Luciano Leilua on a three-year deal.

Now, the Perpignan outfit have reportedly tapped up another Dragon, with Hame Sele being offered a “lengthy deal”, per reports in Australia.

Sele is a two-time Tongan international, both of which came in the 2023 series against England, so he is somewhat used to playing on UK shores.

The 29-year-old hasn’t played NRL since round six, and has made just 11 first-grade appearances since the start of last season.

Should he join Catalans, he would be linking up with Brisbane Broncos speedster Jesse Arthars and Newcastle Knights playmaker Tyson Gamble, both of whom have already been announced by the club for next season.

There could still be more St George players that make the switch to Super League, with Blake Lawrie and Christian Tuipilotu still without a contract for 2027.
