Routes connecting the Interior to the Fraser Valley are closed.
Wildfires continue to disrupt travel across southern B.C., with both Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon and Highway 3 through Manning Park remaining closed until further notice.
Highway 1 is closed between Alexandra Bridge, approximately 44 kilometres north of Hope, and Jackass Summit, south of Lytton, due to the Anderson Creek Wildfire. Officials say there is no estimated time for reopening, and the corridor will remain closed until conditions are safe.
Highway 3 is also closed in both directions between Sunshine Valley and a point west of Manning Park Lodge because of the Norwegian Creek Wildfire. No detour is available along that route.
With both major highways closed, the Coquihalla Highway is currently the only available route connecting the Fraser Valley with B.C.’s Interior. Motorists should expect increased traffic volumes and possible delays.
Evacuation orders remain in effect for areas under the Fraser Valley Regional District and the Boston Bar First Nation as wildfire activity continues.
Officials urge travellers to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas and to check the latest road conditions before departing, as wildfire conditions and highway closures can change rapidly.
