The Love Island final might be days away, but that doesn’t mean the ITV show has stopped delivering drama.
Yasmin Hadlow and Tommy Stagg have had a pretty solid ride on the show, finding love in Casa Amor and skipping any Grafties drama to become one of the villa’s strongest couples. However, recent comments from Tommy have left fans questioning his motives for appearing on the show – and asking whether or not he actually has a secret girlfriend on the outside.
With the bombshell dropping just days before the final, there’s every chance this shock revelation could impact their chances of winning.
So, does Tommy Stagg from Love Island have a secret girlfriend?
While Tommy seems pretty loved-up with Yasmin in the villa, Love Island viewers have been left shocked after it emerged that Tommy had been dating someone just weeks before entering the show.
The bombshell revelation occurred after Maya Jama entered the villa to film a challenge titled ‘Not Another Podcast,’ featuring questions submitted by the public. When Tommy and Yasmin sat down, it didn’t take long before Maya asked the semi-professional footballer/events owner whether he had a girlfriend waiting for him outside of the villa.
Tommy explained, ‘No, I was previously in a relationship with someone but I told her I was doing this and yeah, we left it sweet.’ He went on to add, ‘It was quite recent, but we’d split up maybe a few weeks before.’
When pressed by Maya about just how long he’d dated the girl for, Tommy said, ‘I would say it was about nine or 10 months, just under a year.’
It was a fact that left fans shocked – particularly given he was one of the first names to be linked to the 2026 cast before the show even aired.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts, one fan wrote, ‘Does Tommy know he was rumoured from weeks before the show? So when did he apply and agree to do the show? When was he with this girlfriend?’
A second commented, ‘Oh, so Tommy left his girlfriend to come on LI,’ as another agreed, ‘Maya really exposed him.’
And for some Love Island fans, it was enough for them to call for the ITV show to do some more digging before picking their islanders. ‘Love Island needs a strict breakup time limit before applying, because why is Tommy in the villa when he had a girlfriend three weeks prior his entry?? Plus, fans were quick to point out that Tommy entered the show as a Casa Amor boy – meaning the show would have been airing for weeks before Tommy was flown out. It was a time frame that left some questioning whether or not he was single when the first episode aired….

But while the news left fans shocked, it didn’t seem to phase Yasmin. Defending her partner, she said, ‘To be fair, you did tell me that you came out of a relationship quite quickly before coming in this, so I was aware of that. No girlfriends on the outside.’
So, does Tommy actually have a secret girlfriend? It seems no. He was dating someone just before entering the show (and we mean just before), but it appears they called things off for Tommy to enter the ITV show. As for whether he’ll rekindle any flame with his ex when back in the outside world, that’s anyone’s guess.
