CHICAGO — After 90 years of driving a 27-foot hot dog on wheels around Chicago, Oscar Mayer is rolling out something even more eye-catching: a wiener cake.
The Oscar Mayer Wiener Cake stacks the company’s hot dogs in two tiers around dessert shop Milk Bar’s vanilla confetti birthday cake, topped with “ketchup and mustard” sprinkles.
Chicagoans can buy the Wiener Cake Friday-Sunday for $90 in-store at Milk Bar’s Fulton Market location, 208 N. Green St.

The food oddity comes to Chicago as a celebration of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile’s 90th birthday. The Wienermobile was built by the General Body Co. of Chicago in 1936 to bring Americans joy during the Great Depression, and it has become a national staple as it’s spotted roaming the country.
“After 90 years, the Wienermobile is just as special to Americans as it was in 1936, so it deserves a celebration equally as delightful,” Mollie Twing, Oscar Mayer Wienermobile senior brand manager, said in a Monday press release. “The Wiener Cake celebrates the milestone in delicious fashion, bringing fans something as unique as the iconic vehicle itself.”

Hot dog cakes have become a viral social media sensation over the past year, according to the company’s release.
Founded by New York City pastry chef Christina Tosi, Milk Bar opened its first Midwest location in Chicago in February 2025 in partnership with Chicago’s Boka Restaurant Group.
For its Chicago debut, the dessert shop featured a “Hot Dog Bomb” pastry: a Vienna Beef hot dog inside a poppyseed bun stuffed with tomato, relish, pepper and mustard.
