After a Sunday of picturesque conditions, Environment Canada projects that the week of July 27 may see a higher chance for precipitation and storms until sometime around Wednesday.
Monday is expected to begin with limited visibility as fog patches roll through the region, giving way sometime in the late morning. Mostly cloudy conditions are expected until the afternoon, when the forecast upgrades to a 40 percent chance of showers. These showers turn into a risk of a thunderstorm later in the afternoon, likely due in part to the high temperature fluctuation from the weekend, to overnight temperature, back to the daily high. Environment Canada projects Monday will see the highest temperatures of the week, 28 degrees through the afternoon, feeling like 36 with humidex.
The risk of showers will increase to 70 percent overnight, with the risk of thunderstorms remaining into Tuesday morning. Still mostly cloudy Tuesday; the chance of showers will drop to only 60 percent, with the risk of a thunderstorm still persisting. The high for Tuesday will be 24 degrees, feeling like 29 with the humidex.
Finally, after an overnight drop to 14 with a small chance of more rain, Wednesday will see just a 30 percent chance of showers, with an afternoon high of 25.
The UV index will fluctuate between 6 and 7 or a “high” rating on the Environment Canada scale.
The air quality concerns for the northwestern Ontario wildfires have largely subsided in the region as of July 27; the air quality rating as per Environment Canada will go up to 4 on Monday (or “moderate” risk) and will drop back down to 2 on Tuesday.
