Head coach Wouter Vrancken says Hearts will need to produce an almost flawless display if they are to overturn a four-goal deficit against Sturm Graz and create a “magical and historic” Champions League comeback.
The Tynecastle club were beaten heavily in Austria in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie last week, leaving them a mountain to climb in Tuesday’s return fixture.
Despite the scale of the task, Vrancken insists his players must believe they can produce a memorable night in front of a capacity home crowd in Gorgie.
“We have to go for a magical and historic night,” the Hearts boss said. “You never know what’s going to happen. We have to believe in this scenario.
“[We have to be] pretty perfect, especially in efficiency. When you want to make up four goals, everything has to go right, especially in the boxes.
“Between the boxes, it was pretty OK in Graz, even with this result. But when you want to have a historic night, it has to be really perfect in the boxes.”
