Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026: How to watch Amy Hunt and Jonielle Smith in the women’s 100m final
The women’s 100m is set to be one of the marquee events in athletics at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with an outstanding field all vying for a coveted spot on the podium in Glasgow on Tuesday (28 July).
Before the medals are decided, however, the sprinters must first battle it out in the semi-finals. Several of the pre-event favourites received automatic qualification and will make their first appearance in Tuesday evening’s semi-finals after bypassing the opening round on Monday (27 July).
The women’s semi-finals begin at 19:36 on 28 July, with the final scheduled for 21:40.
The women’s 100m final follows at 21:20.
Among those entering directly into the semi-finals are Rosemary Chukwuma of Nigeria, Amy Hunt of England, Canada’s Audrey Leduc, Jamaica’s Jodean Williams and Jonielle Smith, and Zoe Hobbs of New Zealand.
The opening round took place in typical Glasgow fashion, with cool temperatures and swirling winds making fast times difficult to come by. Nevertheless, the performances ensured there will be no shortage of challengers heading into the next round.
Imani Lansiquot of England led the overall qualifiers with a blistering 11.04 seconds, ahead of Australia’s Torrie Lewis (11.15) and Singapore’s Veronica Shanti Pereira (11.24).
One thing is certain: there will be little room for error before the battle for Commonwealth gold unfolds under the lights later in the evening.
