A power cut has left more than 2,000 homes in and around Derby without electricity.
National Grid has spoken out after around 2,064 homes were left without power across Mackworth and out towards Brailsford and Quarndon due to a fault on the high voltage power lines in the area.
National Grid says this is being sorted “as a priority”, and that engineers are “working hard to get your power back on”.
There were initially 2,545 homes without power when the incident was first noted at 12.23pm on Wednesday (July 29), but power at 481 properties has since been restored.
The full statement from National Grid said: “We know you’re without power.
“We were alerted at 12:23pm this afternoon and our engineers are working to get your electricity back on as quickly as possible. We’re sorry for the disruption.
“We give you our best estimate for when your power will be back on, based on what we know at the time.
“Times might change if we face unexpected challenges getting to the fault. These times show when the last person in the area will have power back – most of you will be reconnected before this.”
In an update shared at 12.48pm, it added that the estimated restoration time is 3pm on Wednesday.
A National Grid Electricity Distribution spokesperson told Derbyshire Live: “Engineers are working to repair a fault on the high-voltage network in Derby.
“The majority of affected customers are already back on supply and we’re working to restore power to the remaining properties as quickly and safely as possible.
“Customers can call 105 or visit our website for updates, and anyone needing extra support can register for our Priority Services Register.”
