PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) –
TODAY & TONIGHT: It is HOT outside, if you can’t already tell. The lack of afternoon thunderstorms these past couple of days has allowed for the heat to build up. Extreme Heat Warning is issued for the remainder of the day until 7pm CDT as feels-like temperatures reach 110°+. However, tonight, we will see some rain across the area, mainly east. As of today & tomorrow, much of the FL Panhandle is under a marginal risk of severe weather. The main concern with the storms will be strong wind, capable of reaching 60 mph in some areas, and isolated flash flooding, mostly for regions east and in the slight risk. You can expect to see most of the chances for those thunderstorms in the later parts of this evening after sunset into the overnight hours into Thursday morning.
TOMORROW: With temperatures already starting warm, the added moisture, and added instability from the front in South Georgia, storms will be starting a tad earlier in the day. Scattered storms with partly to mostly cloudy skies as you go throughout your Thursday, clearing around sunset. Fortunately for us, the clouds and showers will block some sunlight, and the rain will allow us to cool off just a little. Feels-like temperatures will still be high, but less so compared to the earlier days of this week. The unstable conditions from Wednesday still remain, so the chance to see strong winds gusts and thunderstorms will also.
REST OF WEEK & WEEKEND: Looking ahead, more coverage of rain is expected into the weekend, Saturday and Sunday having a likely chance of numerous showers and storms for both coastal and inland areas. Temperatures will stay in the upper 80s across much of the Panhandle.
