Harvey Elliott headed down the tunnel early with what appeared to be a knock as Liverpool beat Wrexham by a Rio Ngumoha to nil in New York.
Replaced by James McConnell in the second half, Elliott had some kind of wrapping around his left ankle and walked around the pitch to head inside while the game continued. He was spotted applauding the fans as he slowly made his way around the edge of the stadium.
“After last season, it’s an incredible feeling to be back,” Elliott told LFCTV pre-match. He struggled for game time at Aston Villa after a loan move that backfired.
Elliott’s future is yet to be decided but Andoni Iraola will give him the chance to impress this summer.
But ex-Premier League star Chris Waddle believes the former Fulham ace should leave Anfield if he’s not given the chance to play regularly in the new season.
Waddle is also surprised by the lack of interest shown in Elliott so far this transfer window.

“I think Harvey Elliott is a good player,” Waddle told OLBG. “I’m surprised not many Premier League teams have been interested in him, like Tottenham. Whether they think he’s over-priced or his demands are too high, I don’t know.
“But I was surprised he didn’t get more game time last year, and I’ve always liked him as a player; he’s a clever player.
“He’s a talented player, and I’ve been very surprised that nobody has taken a chance on him, even if it was for another year-long loan.
“You don’t know the demands of the deal, but watching him play, it felt like something wasn’t quite right.
“I think Elliott has to use pre-season to see where he stands with Andoni Iraola and gauge what the manager’s plans are.
